Hi there!
I’m Kosta, a Ph.D. student in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego. I work with David Barner in the Language and Development Lab. I am interested in the human capacity for abstract thought. I take a developmental approach, asking how children develop language and abstract concepts. Broadly, my research program addresses the following three, inter-related questions:
1) How do concepts develop?
2) How are concepts represented?
3) How does the development and representation of concepts relate to learning language?
I aim to answer these questions by conducting case studies in areas such as logic, time, and emotion.
Previously, I completed my B.S. in Cognitive Science at the University of Connecticut, where I worked on cross-situational learning of abstract words with Umay Suanda in the Communication and Development Lab. When I am not thinking about thinking, I enjoy running, traveling the world, and cheering on the New England Patriots.
